

Gowri is an artiste of great charm and humility, who continues to captivate audiences around the world. Her fine sense of rhythm and expression, her technical virtuosity and her impressive personality on stage has won her applause from discerning audiences.

With her fine tuned skills as a performer, Gowri ventured into choreography and composition. She started with her presentation at the prestigious International Textile Exhibition in 1985. The theme she had chosen, and presented to rave reviews, was entitled the evolution of Silk. Since then over the last 20 years she has had many presentations and productions to her credit.

Gowri teaches many students from all cultures and ethnic backgrounds in several different dance forms – classical, folk and Bollywood. She regularly conducts workshops in Melbourne for many diverse groups.

Spotted by a leading film director at one of her many performances, Gowri entered the film world through a dance number in Nagna Satyam (The Naked truth) a film that won a National Award in India. IN her next film she took on a lead role which won her a nomination for the best actress and film won the prestigious Nandi award. She has since acted in several TV serials and telefilms.
Gowri was called upon to be a member of the cultural committee for the International Film Festival held in India in 1986.
